Solitude

In the multidiscipline and multidimensional solo performance by clarinetist Lauri Sallinen, music opens into space, playing becomes dance and the lonely finds a community. Choreographer Mikko Hyvönen directs the music and the movements of the musician to generate a performance that leans towards contemporary dance. The electronic sound design by composer Libero Mureddu transforms the monophonic into the multiphonic, and the interactive video created by Teo Lanerva brings a resonating presence into the space.

The Land of a Thousand Tangos is a concert program for clarinet, bandoneón and orchestra, featuring the most beloved Finnish songs as entirely new versions. The idea for the performance was to find the original spirit of the Finnish tango- melodies, through releasing them from their commercial burden. The results are powerful and emotionally rich distillations served in glowing and colourful bottles.

Spring Bubbles is a concert program for clarinet and orchestra, serving a rich smorgasbord of tasty musical delicacies from Finland and abroad. The main focus is on waltzes, although the concept of the waltz is approached from many angles: there are waltzes from Japan, France, the Middle East – but also from the North. The most beloved, old Finnish songs and dances are presented in new versions. Spring Bubbles is cooked and served by the musical chef, clarinetist Lauri Sallinen.
